N.V. Bureau Wijsmuller, IJmuiden

"Willem Barendsz" 

Of larger size as the Groningen is the Willem Barendsz (III) built by N.V. De Klop Shipyard at Sliedrecht, Holland. This tug was launched  22th March 1963 and was added to the Wijsmuller fleet on 27th July 1963. Thecontent is  659 gross tons, length overall  173 ft., breadth mld. 33 ft. and depth 16 ft.. Two 6 cyl. Werkspoor two stroke single acting turbo charged diesel engines coupled to a reduction gear, which in turn is connected to a slow revolving variable pitch propeller, housed in a Kort nozzle, giving a total-output of  5375 I.H.P., in 1969  the total-output is increased of 6350 pk. In 1981 sold to Malayan Towage & Salvage Co. Ltd., Manilla and renamed in Ranger I.
